The Gore-Tex gloves have goat skin palms that work well for handling ice axes or ski poles. Thin fleece on the inside gives you some insulation without adding bulk against your palm. Mountain Hardwear put low-bulk polyester insulation against the back of your hand where you'll appreciate a little extra warmth without noticing the extra padding. Kevlar added to the sides of the gloves increases durability without inhibiting breathability. A nose-wipe patch on the thumb saves you from embarrassing snoticles on the chairlifts. Mountain Hardwear's short gauntlet can be stuffed under your jacket sleeve at the resort or pulled over the top to keep out snow in the backcountry.
